"Terror networks strike at the very cornerstone of democracy in their bid to undermine it and violate both human rights and humanitarian law with impunity... But Osama Bin Laden's elimination is a milestone, not an end of what is an ongoing war against terror," Kumar said.
She was speaking at a Special Session on "Strategies for inter-parliamentary collaboration for world peace and anti-terrorism: International coordination strategy of global security" at the Second G-20 Speakers' Consultation Meeting held at Seoul, South Korea on May 19.
"The international community must remain vigilant and eliminate the safe havens and sanctuaries that have been provided to terrorists so that we can eventually eradicate the scourge of terrorism," she said.
Kumar led an Indian Parliamentary Delegation to the Meeting, which comprised Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha K Rahman Khan, Lok Sabha Secretary General T K Viswanathan and his Rajya Sabha counterpart V K Agnihotri.
During the three-day meet which began on May 18, three issues, namely, strategies for inter-parliamentary collaboration for world peace and anti-terrorism; strategies for developing economies based on the development experiences of advanced countries; and the Post-financial crisis: international coordination towards shared growth and the role of Parliaments, were discussed.
Kumar also unveiled a bronze bust of Nobel laureate Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore jointly with Park Hee Tae, Speaker of the National Assembly of South Korea, in Daehangro, Seoul.
