Laptop thieves using catapults to break car windows arrested

Two persons, who used catapults as means to break open window panes of cars and decamp with the valuables particularly laptops, have been arrested, police said.

Two persons, who used catapults as means to break open window panes of cars and decamp with the valuables particularly laptops, have been arrested, police said on Sunday.

As many as five cases relating to laptop thefts were claimed to have been solved with the arrest of Anthony and Paneer from Greater Kailash at south east Delhi.

According to police, Anthony, who operated his gang using cars and motorcycles, used to break the window glasses of the parked cars with the help of catapults and stones and lift the bag from inside the vehicles.

Police said they swung into action following incidents of laptop thefts were reported after breaking window panes of cars in south east Delhi by using rubber catapults and stones.

A button-actuated knife, one stolen motorcycle and one rubber catapult and stones were allegedly recovered from their possession.

Jolly, the kingpin of the gang who used to receive stolen laptops, and his associates Michael, Khanna and Abhimanyu were still absconding, police said.
