Levi Strauss appoints Sanjay Purohit as new India biz head

Apparel firm Levi Strauss today announced the appointment of Sanjay Purohit as the new Managing Director of its India operations.

"Sanjay Purohit has joined Levi Strauss India (LS India) as Managing Director, based in Bangalore," the company said in a statement.

Purohit succeeds Shumone Chatterjee, who has moved as the Vice President of Marketing, (Levi's Brand) for Levi Strauss & Co (LS&Co) Asia Pacific Division, it said.

"We are very excited to welcome Sanjay to the team as the head of our business in India. He has a wealth of experience with iconic brands and will bring that to bear at Levi Strauss & Co," Levi Strauss Asia Pacific Division President Aaron Boey said.

Chatterjee moves up to the regional leadership role after five years of heading the India business, the company added.
