The police have arrested Gunjan (20), a resident of Paharganj, for stealing a bag during a wedding reception in Ambedkar Bhawan in Aram Bagh on Thursday.

"The mother of the bride had placed a white colour bag containing cash and envelopes containing money on a chair and all the family members went up the stage for a group photo. In the meantime a boy came and stole the bag," said a senior police officer.

"We immediately examined still and video images captured by the wedding photographers. After minute examination, the police zeroed in on a person in one of the pictures," added the officer.

A beat Head Constable identified the person in the photograph as Gunjan.

"Gunjan told us that he used to steal bags containing cash and valuables at wedding parties since guests usually come from different places and do not prefer to report the matter to police. He also disclosed about snatching purses and mobile phones and was also arrested on an earlier occasion by police in a snatching case. His modus operandi is to enter in marriage parties and steal bags lying unattended," the police officer said.
