A man was arrested for allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman at Bikaner House in central Delhi few days ago. Police said the accused kidnapped the woman from Jammu and Kashmir and was taking her to Ajmer when she shouted for help.

The incident occurred on Monday morning, when the accused Arshid Dar (24), a resident of Srinagar brought the woman to Bikaner House to take a bus to Ajmer.

“The woman stole money from Dar’s bag and rushed to an autorickshaw. She was trying to board it when the accused caught her and assaulted her. A passer-by called the police control room. A team rushed to the spot and the couple was detained,” said a senior police officer.

The woman was kidnapped two months from Srinagar. Dar was sent to Tihar Jail.
