"The victim has been identified as Vinod Singh, a resident of Rohini's sector 20. He was on a walk at his usual time when the incident occurred. We were informed at 7:54am," said Chhaya Sharma, DCP (outer).

Police said Singh, who used to make ends meet by earning commission on sale and purchase of vehicles, was walking his pet dog at a market near his house when he was attacked.

"According to witnesses, two men on a scooter waylaid him and started attacking him with a sharp weapon. And within minutes the two men fled the scene, leaving the victim behind covered in blood," said a senior police officer investigating the incident.

Police said Singh's initial medical examination revealed deep gashes on his chest, neck, stomach and back leading investigators to link the incident to personal enmity.

Singh was married with two daughters and a son.
