Mandela’s Birthday celebrated at Springdales School

The Africa Club of Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan joined the rest of the world in celebrating the 92nd birthday of Dr. Nelson Mandela. The function was a culmination of the Africa Week events, held on the theme, ‘South Africa-from Freedom to football’.

The Africa Club of Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan joined the rest of the world in celebrating the 92nd birthday of Dr. Nelson Mandela. The function was a culmination of the Africa Week events, held on the theme, ‘South Africa-from Freedom to football’.

Advocate, David Nkosi, First Secretary, South Africa High Commission graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. Principal, Dr. Jyoti Bose welcomed all the guests. The Lakshmi Sheshadri Memorial Trophy for the Best participating House was presented to Felicity House. The event also included a visual presentation which took us on a journey to ‘South Africa from Freedom to Football’.

Ahlcon International School, Mayur Vihar organized a workshop on ‘Action Centered Leadership’. The Second Secretary at the High Commission of Malta in Delhi, Marsim Cassar graced the occasion along with Principals of other schools.

The resource person, Ian Thompson, Managing Director, Portentous Consulting Ltd and Associate Professor at John Adais Academy, enlightened the audience on the concept of leadership, its success and failure. This was followed by question-answer session. The workshop culminated with a vote of thanks, delivered by Principal, Ashok K. Pandey.

Delhi Police Public School, Safdarjung Enclave celebrated its second Felicitation Function to award trophies and certificates to meritorious students. Chief Guests of the function were Dr. N Rathnasree, Director, Nehru Planetarium and C. Gurumurthy, Director (Academic), CBSE. A special feature of this year’s function was the award of Commendation Cards and cash rewards by the Commissioner of Police, who is also the Patron of the school to toppers of Class X & XII respectively. The highlight of the programme was a ballet dedicated to river Yamuna. Principal, Sunila Athley complimented the achievers.

The Indian School, Sadiq Nagar hosted ‘Malhaar’, Annual Interschool competition on the theme, ‘Silk Route’ where 18 schools participated. Chief Guest on the occasion was Padma Vibhushan Dr. Sonal Mansingh, famed classical dancer.

The event included various competitions such as music, dance art and computer animation. The host school stood first at Malhaar however they handover the trophy to Tagore Intl., East of Kailash. There were several individual prizes also for various competitions. Chairperson, Dr. Naina Goradia congratulated all the winners.
