Cracking down illegal structures that have come up in the city, the building department of various zones took action on 34 properties in areas under its jurisdiction. The action was undertaken in areas such as New Moti Nagar, Karam Pura, Rajouri Garden, Raghubir Nagar, Tagore Garden Extension, Ramesh Nagar, Nangloi, Uttam Nagar, Vikas Puri, Kashmere Gate and Vishkarma Colony among others.

"The civic body is in no mood to giving respite to the offenders of enacted laws and travesty of law will not be tolerated by it for the construction activities undertaken without proper authorisation," said a senior MCD official.

MCD had drew criticism over rampant growth of unauthorised constructions in the city after a building with illegal floors collapsed in east Delhi in November 2010.
