The civic agency said if the government decides to split the corporation, the BJP-led MCD would move court.

BJP councillors discussed issues pertaining to property tax, toll tax, maintenance of roads and the division of employees, which needed to be resolved before the split.

“In the reply sent to the ministry on the issue of trifurcation, we had clearly mentioned that the Centre should first decide how property tax, toll tax etc will be divided between the proposed corporations. Without deciding on these basic issues, splitting the corporation makes no sense. The home minister heard us carefully and assured us that he will consider all the points raised by us while taking a decision in this regard,” said Yogender Chandolia, chairman, MCD Standing Committee.

While the proposal drafted by the Delhi government denies an increase in manpower, Delhi mayor, Rajni Abbi challenged the proposal. “It is a ridiculous proposal. How can you split the corporation in three parts without increasing manpower? The draft amendment is contradictory in nature. It is wrong to say that the proposal does not involve additional expenditure,’’ said Rajni Abbi, who was accompanied by Delhi BJP president Vijendra Gupta, Deputy Mayor Anil Kumar Sharma, Yogender Chandolia and Leader of MCD House Subhash Arya.
