MCD gets notice on child labour

A child welfare committee has summoned MCD deputy commissioner (south zone) after four under-age children were found working in the zonal office's canteen.

A child welfare committee has summoned MCD deputy commissioner (south zone) after four under-age children were found working in the zonal office's canteen.

In an order issued on Wednesday, the committee said, “It raises a serious question on the violation of child rights in the office of a public authority.”

“The DC (south zone) should give in writing as to how underage children were employed,” the order stated.

Four children were rescued by labour department officials, following a complaint by NGO Sadbhawana Samaj Kalyan Samiti.
