As per the MCD, streetlight poles in parks of the civic body will be used for this. The service providers who install their set top boxes on the streetlight poles will also maintain the park.
This proposal was floated by the chairperson of the garden committee of the MCD in the civic agency's budget meeting.
"These cell phone towers are destroying the city's skyline. There are tiny set top boxes available which can replace the cell phone towers. Companies which will be allotted these poles will maintain the park where the pole is located," said Savita Gupta, chairperson of Garden Committee of MCD. The municipal commissioner has agreed to the proposal and the scheme will be introduced after a detailed proposal is made.
