MCD officers suspended

Two assistant sanitary inspectors (ASIs) of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) were on Saturday suspended for not ensuring substitute safai karmcharis (sanitary workers) marked attendance using the biometric device.

Two assistant sanitary inspectors (ASIs) of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) were on Saturday suspended for not ensuring substitute safai karmcharis (sanitary workers) marked attendance using the biometric device. It was the biometric attendance system that had helped the civic body unearth the 'ghost employees' scam last year.

The mismatching figure for the number of employees has been a bone of contention between the civic body and Delhi government off late.

The duo, from the Karol Bagh zone, was placed under suspension with immediate effect and major penalty proceedings initiated against them.
