The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is trying its best to shift the blame for the recent waterlogging in the city on other agencies.

Mayor Kanwar Sain said on Friday that in order to avoid such a situation, all civic agencies and departments need to co-ordinate their efforts.
“Joint efforts and coordinated action hold the key to ensure that waterlogging due to heavy downpour does not bring the city to a halt,” he said at a meeting to discuss issues of waterlogging and desilting of drains.
He said inter-departmental issues relating to desilting and waterlogging has been discussed with civic departments. All departments have been asked to ensure the fiasco is not repeated, the mayor added.
The civic agency claimed the ongoing construction by DMRC was one of the reasons for the waterlogging. The DMRC has been apprised of the problem near areas like Chhatarsal Stadium, Model Town and Mukarba Chowk, the mayor said.
Similarly, a message has also been passed on to the PWD and Delhi Jal board.
The MCD has suspended three officials of the sanitation department for dereliction of duty.
