"The doctor in question had made a representation, submitting before us documents supporting his stand, which we will refer to the ethical committee for consideration. No decision has been taken yet," said Dr KK Talwar, MCI chairman.

Said Dr Rakesh Verma, head of cardiology at Safdarjung Hospital: "The complainant is not my patient. The plea is neither on medical management or medical negligence, so the dispute is beyond the jurisdiction of the MCI ethical committee."
