Sunday was the fourth consecutive day of rain.

"We are expecting cloudy skies with rain or thundershowers on Monday and Tuesday. It may rain heavily in some parts on Friday," the Met department said.

Rain gauges measured 2.1 mm at the Safdarjung Road Met office on Sunday.

According to the Met Department, the city received 44.1 mm of rainfall from Saturday morning till 8.30 a.m. on Sunday.

Rain deficit in some parts of the city has been washed away and Met officials expect the rest to be met in the coming few days. "Delhi has already received more than 644 mm of rain in this season which is 2 per cent more than the normal," a senior Met dept official said.

Last year, Delhi received 216 mm of rainfall in August. This year, it has received 356.5 mm of rainfall in August so far.

The weatherman has ruled out the possibility of a dry spell over the coming week.

Waterlogging affected many areas on Sunday, so most vehicles stayed off the roads. "It rained heavily in the morning in Dwarka due to which traffic snarls were reported there and in other West Delhi areas such as Moti Nagar, Janakpuri, Zakhira Flyover and Vasant Vihar. But the situation was under control," said a senior Delhi Traffic police official.

The Yamuna flowed almost above the danger mark, posing a threat to such areas.

People were evacuated from low-lying areas along the Yamuna on Sunday as the river continued to flow above the danger mark. The water level stood 22 cm above the danger level at 205.05 m on Sunday, after water was released from the Hathnikund barrage upstream in Haryana following continuous showers on Saturday.
