“Both the airport and passengers should be ready for dense fog, as a couple of days of fog cannot be ruled out even before mid-December,” said RK Jenamani, director-in-charge of the IGIA Met unit.

The Met department had earlier predicted the onset of dense fog after the second week of December.

On Sunday, flight schedules were affected, as visibility at the airport came down to 900m. As the airport witnessed light fog from about 11 pm on Saturday to 11.40 am on Sunday, several flights were delayed by up to two hours. With visibility starting to dip after 6pm on Sunday, many evening arrivals and departures were delayed.
