Although Delhi Metro Rail Corporation missed its deadline to connect Badarpur with Central Secretariat twice; it will finally open the complete line in another three-four days.
Initially scheduled to open before the Commonwealth Games, the Metro corridor was opened up till just Sarita Vihar on October 3. The DMRC then promised to connect Sarita Vihar with Badarpur in another 10 days.
However, that deadline was missed, too, as the corporation could start trial runs on the stretch only on October 27.
Now, finally, after testing the stretch for 10 days, the Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) RK Kardam will inspect the stretch between Sarita Vihar and Badarpur on Tuesday. DMRC officials said they got a letter from Kardam on Monday, informing them about his safety inspection schedule for Tuesday.
After the CMRS gives them the clearance, residents of Mohan Estate, Tughlaqabad and Badarpur will get Metro connectivity.
"Immediately after getting clearance certificate from CMRS, we will open the five-km odd stretch for public," said a DMRC spokesperson. "We are expecting to open the stretch within a few days after receiving safety clearance."
