‘Ministry told oc to buy CWG stock’

Former CWG organising committee (OC) chairman Suresh Kalmadi told a city court that it was the sports ministry’s decision that it should take over the process of procuring equipment for the event.

His counsel HH Ponda said on July 15, 2009, in a meeting of ministry officials it was decided that the OC should take over the process of procurement of equipment, while the details of cost were to be taken care of by the committee and the venue owners. He said even the DG of Sports Authority of India had said “OC should procure the equipment”.
