Minor neighbour rapes a 12-year-old
A 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour, himself a minor, in west Delhi’s Nihal Vihar on Sunday. “The incident occurred when the victim left her home for the local market at 10am,” said a senior police officer.

According to the police, the 15-year-old accused, a labourer by profession, caught hold of her as soon as she left her home, dragged her into his ground floor house and forced himself upon her.
“We believe that he was helped by one of his friends, who is also a juvenile. The victim ran to her house and told her parents about the incident as soon as she could escape their clutches,” the officer said.
The girl’s medical examination has confirmed sexual assault. In their complaint, the family has stated that the accused had been harassing their daughter for the last week. “We have registered a case and are on the lookout for the two boys,” the officer said.
In the last month alone, Delhi has witnessed as many as 25 cases of rape and molestation of women.
