Political career: “As a child, I was always attracted towards politicians coming to our village and asking for votes. I dreamt of getting into politics one day,” said Bisht. In 1976, Bisht came to Delhi and joined Jansangh. In 1992, he joined the Rashtriya Swayam Sewak Sangh. He contested his first elections in 1998 and won and was re-elected in 2003.

Family: Bisht’s wife Laxmi is a homemaker. They have a son and a daughter. “My wife has taken up the responsibility of the house and also helps me out with my political activities,” said Bisht. A devout person, he starts his day by offering prayers. “When I reach home after a hectic day of work, I love watching one of those religious soap telecasts,” he said.

Cars: Bisht travels in an Ambassa-dor. His son owns a motorbike.
