The surgery is scheduled for Monday at Pushpanjali Crosslay Hospital near Ghaziabad, where cardiac surgeon Dr A Sampath Kumar and his team at will operate on her. Edward Lifesciences has offered a free valve for the Rs 1.5-lakh surgery. NGO Manav Ashray will house the family till she recovers.

“The patient is on anti-coagulants to prevent blood clotting. We need 48 hours for the drug’s effect to pass off, after which we will operate on her. The final decision on repair or transplant will be taken only on Monday but the patient’s initial reports suggest the valve has been reasonably well-preserved,” said Dr Sampath Kumar. htc
