Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) on Thursday filed police complaints against two consumers in northwest Delhi’s Mangolpuri area who “allowed Kejriwal’s aide Gopal Rai to restore their connection.
Rai said they will protest. “We restore connections only when we get calls from people. We will protest if these people are arrested,” he added.
Not willing to be left out, the BJP has jumped into the muddle, promising free legal aid to those facing action. However, consumers facing police complaints are willing to pay up to avoid legal hassles. Bana Ram of Tigri Khanpur, against whom BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) had lodged a complaint, paid his bill on Thursday.
BSES sources said they informed the police about the payment. Earlier, Meera Devi of Bawana paid her bill after TPDDL lodged a complaint against the illegal restoration of power supply in her house.
Ajey Maharaj of TPDDL said, “On Thursday, we lodged complaints against two consumers in Mangolpuri. Their connections were cut on October 6. But on Wednesday, they let IAC members to restore power illegally. While Heera Lal owes R7,130, Balbir has to pay R9, 590,” Maharaj said.
Meanwhile, state BJP president Vijender Gupta and leader of opposition in Delhi assembly Vijay Kumar Malhotra said that they would a mass movement in Delhi for 40 days from from October 14 to protest the recent hike in power tariff.
Gupta said “BJP will provide free legal aid to those facing cases on reconnection of supply by IAC workers. These people have been left in the lurch. We will visit every lane, mohalla, village and intersection and distribute pamphlets, stage plays, hold meetings and puppet shows to make people aware of this government’s atrocities.”
“The common man who earns R5,000 to R8,000 a month is being served power and water bills of Rs. 7,000. They cannot run their families,” he said.
