More than 4 lakh foreign tourists visit India in Sept

4.01 lakh foreigners visited India in September as against 3.69 lakh during the same period last year, registering a growth of 8.7%. The growth of 8.7% in September 2011 is higher than 5.3% growth registered in August 2011.

The growth of 8.7% in September 2011 is higher than 5.3% growth registered in August 2011.

"We have undertaken a series of road shows abroad to promote our destinations as part of our consistent to attract more foreign tourists," said a senior tourism ministry official, adding, "Now the Incredible India campaign is focusing on projecting India as a 365-day destination."

The total foreign tourits arrivals (FTA) during the period January-September 2011 were 42.20 lakh with a growth of 10 per cent as compared to the FTA of 38.35 lakh with a growth of 8% during January-September 2010 over the corresponding period of 2009, according to tourism ministry data.

Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEE) during September 2011 were Rs 5,748 crore as compared to Rs 4,678 crore in September 2010 and Rs 3798 crore in September 2009.
