Samajwadi Party leaders Mulayam Singh Yadav and Amar Singh met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday, who informed them about the G-8 summit and also "assured" them that the Iran gas pipeline project would not be compromised.
"Earlier when India used to go to the developed G-8 countries, there used to be many restrictions on India on security issues ... The Prime Minister told Mulayam Singhji that now -- whether it was Hu Jintao of China, Nicholas Sarkozy of France or Gordon Brown of England -- among the G-8 countries the respect for India has increased and they are treating her as a powerful country," Amar Singh told reporters after the SP leaders met the Prime Minister.
"The Prime Minister told us that the world is now looking at India with a new attitude," Amar Singh said.
He alleged that mis-information was being spread that the Prime Minister was compromising on the Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline issue.
