Over the last decade, Bhutan and Bangladesh have shut their doors to insurgent groups and taken coercive action against them when informed about insurgent camps.

Quoting intelligence inputs, government sources said the Myanmar army ordered about 12-15 Manipur-based insurgent groups to leave the country on May 24 as a goodwill gesture.

Government officials said they were hopeful that the army would send a similar message to other northeastern militant groups in the near future that would help strengthen the relations between the two countries.
