Nerds have all the fun!
It was literally a day for the geeks at Lady Irwin College recently, as the theme of the HT City Fresh on Campus party there was ‘Nerd Beauty.’ Girls were seen sporting a geek look with big eye glasses, quirky hairdos and some funky hair accessories. “It was fun to see the freshers turn up as nerd beauties and complementing the theme for the day,” says Anureet Kaur, president of the college.
The students got a chance to display their talent at The Diva of the Day contest. DJ Sumit Sethi, who was the anchor for the day, kept the girls on their toes during the talent round in the contest, as he made them do spontaneous gigs on stage. A hit with the audience was Oajasvi Parmar of 1st year BSc (Hons), who, sporting a short skirt and round glasses, entertained everybody with her witty one-liners and a happy-go-lucky attitude. She even took the challenge of wooing a girl on the street in jest and got a thumbs-up for her act. Another energetic performance was by Srishti Singh of 1st year BSc (Hons), who got the crowd grooving along when she danced to Sheila Ki Jawani. Students also got to display their talent at the Coolest Fresher Contest.
The party’s conclusion was high on the spirit of friendship, as the girls were seen crooning singer KK’s famous number, Yaaron Dosti Badi Hi Haseen Hai. “KK sang this song for the first time in our college, and since then, it’s been like our college anthem,” says Sukirti Anand, a second year student.
