NH-24 to be converted into a 16-lane e-way till Dasna

“Though we are still working on the alignment, we hope to take it through Ghaziabad along National Highway 24 till Dasna and turn towards Meerut,” a NHAI official said. “It will be a new road altogether. We have dumped our initial plan to convert the existing NH58 into an expressway,” the official added.

The expressway will be a boon for motorists travelling to and from Ghaziabad. The NHAI has proposed to convert the existing stretch of NH-24 on Delhi side to 16 lanes. The eight-laning of the stretch is already underway. About 20 kilometre of the expressway will be built on the existing NH-24. It will be a new alignment from Dasna, the NHAI official said.

Once the alignment is finalised, a feasibility study will be carried out and tenders will be called. NHAI officials said the project will take a few years to complete.

“There will be lot of issues involved in the project. Since the expressway will come up along a new alignment, we will have to see where we have the land available, where are various other projects coming up, whether land acquisition will be possible along that stretch or it might take pose us problems,” said an official.

The project is a part of sixth National Highway Development Programme.
