NHRC notice to govt over woman giving birth in open

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), on Tuesday, issued a notice to the Delhi government, asking it to submit a report on the incident of a woman delivering a baby in front of a hospital after being denied admission.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), on Tuesday, issued a notice to the Delhi government, asking it to submit a report on the incident of a woman delivering a baby in front of a hospital after being denied admission.

The human rights watchdog has summoned Delhi’s chief secretary and health secretary and sought detailed reports from them within two weeks.

The NHRC spokesperson said that the action came after a complaint was filed, alleging that a woman had been forced to deliver a baby in front of the emergency gate of Dr Ambedkar Hospital in Rohini yesterday after the doctors there refused to admit her.
