CBI’s closure report about Aarushi-Hemraj double murder case remains inconclusive about the type of weapon used to kill the victims, Aarushi Talwar and Hemraj Banajade. The agency, so far, failed to figure out the murder weapon(s).

According to the doctors who conducted the autopsy on the two victims said there were two types of weapons used for the murder and assault. "One weapon being a heavy blunt weapon, and the other being very sharp and light instrument," the report stated.

The report stated that the blunt injury was caused first and was sufficient to cause death. The incised wound on the neck of both victims was caused later. The doctors also stated that cuts on the victims' necks were caused by small sharp instrument with 'surgical precision' and by a surgically trained person.

Several aspects of investigations were clarified by the CBI through expert opinion. In order to determine the weapon, the experts also measured set of golf clubs handed over by Dr Rajesh Talwar.

“The dimensions of the striking surface of golf club no. 5 seized from Dr Rajesh Talwar is identical to the dimensions of the injury found on both the victims…,” the report stated.

However, the experts could not find any bloodstains or DNA of the victims from the golf-stick to “directly link it to the crime”. The report stated that golf sticks were thoroughly cleaned that they were visibly distinct from others.
