No procedures were bent for Mallya: CISF

On Saturday, Mallya come to Delhi by his jet to attend a function at IMT Ghaziabad. From the airport, he took a chopper to reach the institute for a convocation programme. He returned to the airport by the same chopper and boarded his private jet the same day.

Sources at the airport said during the transit, Mallya didn’t go through security check.

The spokesperson of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the agency responsible for airport security, said no security procedures were bent to facilitate Mallya.

The CISF spokesperson said, “We were requested to allow ramp to ramp transfer for Mallya but we refused to

depart from the established security procedures and it was intimated to them that the security procedures have to be followed.”

“It is the responsibility of the captain to ensure that the passenger boarding the aircraft has the mandatory pre-embarkation checks,” he added.

While the CISF spokesperson said that the matter has been reported to the ministry of civil aviation, the ministry spokeswoman could not be contacted for comments.

A Kingfisher airline spokesperson said there has been “absolutely no violation of any security guidelines”.

“He boarded the aircraft from the Hindon Airforce base, which is a secure and sterile area, and he underwent the prescribed screening procedures there. There is no question of any violation of security norms," the spokesperson added.
