No work saved her from death

She cannot stop thanking her stars, but is also sad a lot of people she had seen grow up are dead. Her family has been doing their laundry and ironing business from Gali No. 42 Beadonpura for the last 50 years.

“There were not many clothes to iron so I left around 4:00 pm. The next thing I heard there was a blast right in front of our shop,” she said. After staying at home for the last two days, she mustered the courage to come back here and open her shop.

Her son Ramesh Kumar (32), an eight-seater auto driver in the Karol Bagh area said, “Thank God my mother came home early. I was just a few blocks away when the blast took place. It is a miracle nothing happened to her.”

For Kela Devi, it is now all about helping the families of the blast victims. “I have seen them grow and get married. I will do anything to help them. I cannot understand how someone can kill innocent people who do not have anything to do with their cause. They are just people trying to survive,” she added.
