"Visibility went down to 200 metres on Tuesday morning but, unlike Monday, there was no smog in the afternoon," said RK Jenamani, director-in-charge of the met unit at Indira Gandhi International Airport.

"There has been considerable improvement in the weather conditions from Monday and we are not expecting dense fog conditions for at least the next two days," he said.

On Tuesday, the airport was covered by fog early in the morning which led to flight delays. As general visibility dropped to 200 metres at 5.30 am, low visibility procedures were implemented.

Low visibility procedures were lifted at 12.05 pm as the fog cleared up. There were 195 flight movements during this period using CAT I and II instrument landing system.

"We are not expecting dense fog in the next few days as there is no increase in the amount of moisture in the atmosphere,” Jenamani said.
