According to Sanoj Kumar — the beat constable who finally took the victim to a hospital in an autorickshaw — it took a lot of convincing to make someone from the huge crowd of students that had gathered at the spot, to accompany Radhika to hospital.

"A couple of men had brought her down from the bridge. But no one was ready to take her to the hospital with me. I had to stop an auto forcibly," he said.

While Aditya, the boy accompanying Tanwar was chasing the assailant, Kumar had to manage the traffic, find an
auto and get the girl in the auto himself.

"I needed help. But nobody came forward. After much convincing, I finally caught hold of a man and forced him to accompany me," Kumar said.

Even though the incident took place in an area thronged by students from the South Campus, not a single student came forward to lend a helping hand, according to Kumar.

"This attitude needs to change. Students keep protesting against the police and the system but when one of their own needed help, there was no one," he added.
