"The victim has been identified as Surender, a resident of Mongolpuri's Y block who used to work as a driver. His body was recovered from a flowing drain near a gas agency's office on the Kanjhawala Road at 3 pm," said Chhaya Sharma, deputy commissioner of police (outer).
Police said the incident occurred when Surender who was also a local Bajrang Dal worker, went to visit his friend Veerpal on the occasion of Holi.
"Veerpal has been working as a security guard with the said gas agency for 18 months and was drinking when Surender turned up to meet him. Seeing that he was drinking, Surender asked Veerpal to pour him a drink to which the latter refused," said a senior police officer investigating the incident. Police said they zeroed-in on Veerpal after recovering bloodstained items belonging to the victim near a drain from where his body was fished out.
A case of murder has been registered and Veerpal has been arrested, police said.
