Delhi Police arrested on one Manoj Kumar, 29, for allegedly running an extortion racket in the garb of a cargo company, police said on Tuesday.

Kumar was caught from Nangloi on September 11, DCP (Outer) Chhaya Sharma said.

“He used to open a fake transport company and publicise it so that people came to get their cargo booked for transporting the same through trucks to different parts of the country," she said.

The gang led by Kumar, then selected soft targets and hid the booked goods instead of delivering the same to the mentioned destination, she added.

Manoj would then allegedly threaten the victim and extort a good amount of money for the release of goods.
