“We’ve to confirm the veracity of the comments. The committee has authorised me to take appropriate steps,” Joshi said after the PAC meeting.

Joshi plans to write to Tewari, who is also a Congress spokesman, to check on the veracity of the reported statement.

Tewari is a member of the PC Chacko-led Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), which is also probing the telecom issue from 1998 onwards. In asking the BJP to rein in Joshi, Tewari had reportedly infused a partisan angle to a constitutional body.

Unfazed Tewari, continued with his attack: “The way PAC is now looking into these things, the opposition party should introspect.”
