To ensure that the first public appearance of Narendra Modi in the city ahead of the Assembly elections is a success, the Delhi BJP is pulling out all the stops.

To ensure that the first public appearance of Narendra Modi in the city ahead of the Assembly elections is a success, the Delhi BJP is pulling out all the stops.

After forming a committee of senior BJP leaders to oversee the preparation of the September 29 rally, which will be addressed by Modi, the party has decided to form a series of sub-committees.

"To further fast-track and compartmentalise the rally work, a series of smaller committees will be formed to take care of various tasks, including publicising the rally on social media, taking care of the ground arrangements and permission, decoration, publicity, security, transport, food and civic amenities for the rally," said Vijender Gupta, the committee's convener.

According to sources, with Modi being named as the prime ministerial candidate of the party, the pressure to make this rally a big success is growing.

The state unit will be meeting on Sunday to discuss the modalities of the rally.

The rally will be held at the Japanese park in Rohini. The party has also designated two senior party leaders for each of the seven parliamentary constituencies in the city to oversee the rally-related work and the publicity campaign. The leaders include Harsh Vardhan, Arti Mehra, Vijay Jolly, Om Prakash Kohli, Vani Tripathi, Jagdish Mukhi, Shyam Jaju.

"We are forming smaller committees responsible for various works to ensure a successful rally. Right from connecting with the public by using the social media we will be personally sending invites to resident welfare associations, NGOs and traders to be part of this grand rally," added Gupta.

The BJP is expecting more than five lakh people to be part of this rally. "Preparations for the rally have begun," said Vijay Goel, Delhi BJP president.
