PM announces ex-gratia relief for Leh flash flood victims

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday expressed grief over the loss of life and property in the flash floods in Leh in Jammu and Kashmir and announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs one lakh each to the kin of the deceased.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday expressed grief over the loss of life and property in the flash floods in Leh in Jammu and Kashmir and announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs one lakh each to the kin of the deceased.

"The Prime Minister is grieved to learn about the loss of life and property in the flash floods which hit Leh after a
cloud burst" last night, a PMO statement said.

He announced an ex-gratia relief from the PM's National Relief Fund of Rs one lakh each to the kin of those
killed and Rs 50,000 each to the seriously injured, it said.

Flash floods struck Leh last night killing 59 people.
