According to the sources, the pime minister will brief the president on G8 deliberations as well as on the political situation in the country following the Left parties' withdrawal of support to the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government.

The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M)-led Left parties Wednesday pulled back their legislative support to the Manmohan Singh government over the India-US nuclear deal and dared it to make the IAEA India-specific safeguards pact public.

Taking a stridently aggressive line, CPI-M general secretary Prakash Karat accused the government of "violating the trust" of the Left and of having "insulted" the communists from the contentious nuclear deal.

Manmohan Singh was to return to New Delhi Wednesday night from his Japan tour where he also met US President George W Bush to discuss the deal that caused a rupture in the Congress-led coalition government.
