Police lodge FIR in Dwarka serial burglaries case

A day after Hindustan Times reported on the southwest district police’s refusal to acknowledge a spate of burglaries in three apartments of Dwarka’s posh Humsub apartments, the police have finally been directed to lodge an FIR in the case.

This apathy from the police comes less than two months after commissioner of police, Y.S. Dadwal, had claimed that the Delhi Police force would “tolerate no ‘burking’ of cases of any nature” ahead of the Commonwealth Games.

A day after the report was published, a case was registered. “Officers from the police station came and recorded our statement the same evening and asked us to collect our FIR the next day,” said Purushottam Savlani (39), regional manager of an IT firm whose first floor residence in

F block was burgled.

On behalf of the others, Savlani received a combined FIR for both the cases on Friday.
