Police ready to cope with traffic rush

A whole company of the Armed Police, drawn from the commissioner's very own reserve, has been brought in to keep an eye on the law and order situation across the Capital.

Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs), Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) and dozens of patrolling vehicles, too, will be on the ground till well beyond midnight and keep a keen eye out for the slightest of violations.

"A company of the Armed Police will be deployed in Mehrauli and the Dwarka Link Road, where several farmhouses are located, and will be working in tandem with 450 traffic police officers to monitor and regulate traffic," said Satyendra Garg, joint CP (traffic).

Owners of farmhouses and banquet halls have been asked to ensure that baraats headed to their properties don't spill out onto adjacent roads in addition to providing adequate parking facilities within their compounds.
