Poonam Azad is back in BJP

A day after she resigned from the BJP, Poonam Azad was back in the party fold. Azad had quit the party on Thursday for being denied a ticket to contest the assembly elections. She was hoping for a ticket from the Patparganj assembly seat but it went to ex-Delhi University Students Union President Nakul Bhardwaj.
Azad was apparently pacified and convinced to stay on by senior leader Arun Jaitley and party colleague Vijay Jolly.
“I am definitely a BJP leader, but I am also a human being. I never said anything against the party, I love the BJP,” Azad said. She maintained that the party had not accepted her resignation.
“This was not about not getting a ticket, but not a single Purvanchali leader got a ticket. We are 60 lakh voters. If I can’t get a ticket, what do I say to the voters I represent,” asked Azad.
Her husband and former cricketer Kirti Azad, however, decided to distance himself from the entire episode. “I am a BJP leader at the national level and had nothing to do with this situation. To be honest, I did not speak to my wife for the last two days,” said Kirti Azad.
Meanwhile, Madan Lal Khurana participated in a march in support of the BJP candidate from Moti Nagar assembly seat, Subhash Sachdeva.
