Ironically, the victim, Shiraj Alam, a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Ambedkar Nagar, was duped by a young woman who herself is a post graduate in Sociology from
Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women's University, Mumbai, police said.

Acting on Alam's complaint, the Delhi Police arrested Manisha M. Bhatt on a tip-off that she would come to Old Rajender Nagar to strike a deal with some youth, said Devesh Chandra Srivastava, additional CP (central).

"Bhatt's aide Nitin Pratap Jang Rana is untraceable so far. The duo had cheated Alam of around R5 lakh by promising him a job in Germany," said Srivastava, adding they suspect that some more youths had been duped by the gang. Alam, in his complaint, had told the police that he saw the agency’s advertisement on the internet.

"I met Bhatt in October 2011. She said she could arrange a job in Germany for Rs. 5 lakh. She told me that the money was against fee for a three-month training programme in Malaysia or Singapore and other formalities," Alam had said in his complaint.

According to Alam, Bhatt made him pay Rs. 50,000 in advance and Rs. 1.5 lakh before she gave him an air ticket and sent him to Malaysia for attending the training programme.

"Bhatt met me in Malaysia and I was given a hotel room to stay. She asked me to deposit the remaining amount in Rana's bank account, as they were to send me to Singapore for training. After taking the money Bhatt disappeared and stopped taking my calls. My Visa expired and I had to return to India on my own cost," added Alam.
