In the hour-long interaction, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee told the first time MPs that it was important to actively participate in the proceedings of the House.

He asked them to raise issues pertaining to their constituencies and the problems of the people.

The interaction of the Finance Minister with the newly elected MPs will also help to get inputs for the formulation of the budget, which is likely to be presented in the first week of August.
