Probe against tainted AAP brass hanging

Eight months earlier, Arvind Kejriwal had announced that the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) internal lokpal would probe into complaints against three of its top members — Prashant Bhushan, Anjali Damania and Mayank Gandhi. However, there has been no word since then. The probe was supposed to be completed in three months.

Party spokesperson Manish Sisodia said the party’s central lokpal would conduct the probe against members of the national executive, Bhushan and Gandhi. Complaints against Damania, from the AAP Maharashtra unit, are being handled by the state lokpal, he added.

Kejriwal had in October 2012 announced setting up an internal lokpal, but a change in the panel members, now consisting of Admiral Ramdas, former Navy chief, and Illina Sen, social worker, caused the delay.

Gandhi, associated with the India Against Corruption movement, has already been exonerated, absolving him of charges in connection with a land development deal in Mumbai. This was greeted with mixed reactions.

Kejriwal said there has been no probe against Bhushan yet since there are no specific complaints against him but if there is, Ilina Sen would be replaced.
