The order came when members of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) board raised the matter in a meeting chaired by Khanna. Delhi chief secretary PK Tripathi has also asked the UD department to file a report in this regard by Wednesday next.

“We have started putting the status report together. A team of officials have been told to study the situation that exist on ground and tally it with the regularisation application that we had received earlier. We will soon send the report to the chief secretary and the LG in this regard,” said a senior urban development department official said.

According to the allegations made by a former Delhi MLA, there are four colonies in south Delhi that were given provisional certificate for regularisation by Sheila Dikshit government ahead of the assembly elections in Delhi in 2008, which do not meet the regularisation criteria of at least 50% construction.

The complaint, which was sent to the LG, the chief minister and Delhi Lokayukta, also points out that some of these colonies only exist on papers but are a barren piece of land in reality. Complainant has alleged that provisional regularisation certificate has been given to these colonies top benefit builders.

The suspected colonies include Shakti Enclave near Kalindi Colony on the banks of Yamuna, Radha Krishan Vihar and Kotla Mahigram Extension in Badarpur and Abul Fazal Enclave Part-2, which had been acquired by the DDA in 2006.

Dikshit government had given provisional certificate 1639 colonies in September 2008.

The DDA members have also asked a CBI inquiry into the case. Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit and UD minister Rajkumar Chauhan have already agreed to get the issue probed and have promised to book the officers in case a scam is unearthed in the process.
