Publisher of book on RAW granted bail

A publisher, who along with a former RAW officer was accused of disclosing classified information through a book on the working of the external intelligence agency, was granted bail by a Delhi court.

A publisher, who along with a former RAW officer was accused of disclosing classified information through a book on the working of the external intelligence agency, was on Wednesday granted bail by a Delhi court.

Vivek Garg of Manas Publication, who appeared before the court following the summons, was allowed bail by the court on the ground the CBI had not arrested him during investigation into the case.

Major General (retired) V K Singh, former Joint Secretary of Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), and Garg were accused of revealing certain "secret informations" through a book 'India's External Intelligence: Secrets of RAW' in violation of the Official Secrets Act.

"In view of the facts and circumstances of the case, particularly in view of the fact that the accused was not arrested by the CBI during the course of investigation, accused is admitted to bail," Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja said.

The accused was required to take bail in the matter as court had already taken cognisance of the chargesheet filed against him on January 31.
