Reject report on 2G or house won’t run: BJP

Parliamentary affairs minister Kamal Nath met with NDA working chairperson LK Advani on Friday to seek the opposition’s support for smooth functioning of the second half of budget session — to pass the Rail Budget and the Finance Bill — as only nine working days are left in this session.

But his efforts did not appear to bear fruit as the opposition indicated it won’t cooperate unless JPC (on 2G scam) chairman PC Chacko’s draft report on the scam, which absolved the Prime Minister, was rejected.

Advani wanted Nath to discuss the issue with leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj on Monday -- she is campaigning in Karnataka -- while clearly indicating that the controversial report should not be adopted.

Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley said “confrontation and cooperation” could not go hand in hand.

He said the CBI affidavit on the coal probe report had “smashed” the government’s claim that there was no interference in CBI’s functioning.
