Relief for accident victim

The Delhi Police commissioner has been asked by a Motor Accident Claims Tribunal to pay over Rs. 34,000 as damages to a woman who had been hit by a rashly driven PCR van and sustained severe injuries.

The Delhi Police commissioner has been asked by a Motor Accident Claims Tribunal to pay over Rs. 34,000 as damages to a woman who had been hit by a rashly driven PCR van and sustained severe injuries.

The tribunal asked the police commissioner and the driver of the PCR vehicle to pay Rs. 34,135 to northeast Delhi resident Bano who was hit by a PCR van in 2005.

"From the statement of the petitioner, it is clear that she sustained injuries in the accident due to rash and negligent driving of the driver," presiding officer Rakesh Kumar said.
