Rescue kids working in zari units: HC

The Delhi High Court on Thursday directed the police to rescue the children working in zari units in Jamia Nagar area.

The Delhi High Court on Thursday directed the police to rescue the children working in zari units in Jamia Nagar area.

Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justice Sanjiv Khanna also directed DCP (south-east) to personally look into the recovery of children from zari units in Jamia Nagar and file a status report on the issue.

The court's direction came on an application filed by NGO Save Childhood Foundation, through counsel HS Phoolka alleging that a mob attacked the rescue team soon after about 50 children were rescued from various units recently.

The bench is hearing a PIL after taking suo moto cognisance of a media report that several children have been engaged in zari-making units.
